The researchers made great breakthrough in the theory and technology of exploitation for thick and extra thick coal seam, created the loose medium flow field theory in full-mechanized top coal caving mining, and based on the control of roof and coal wall, established the new method in the surrounding rock control of thick coal seam. Besides, with the collaborations with the coal enterprises, the researchers developed the extra thick coal seam full-mechanized top coal caving mining technology with a great mining height of more than 14 meters, the 60°thick coal seam  long-wall full-mechanized mining technology, the mining technology of fully-mechanized coal mining with large mining height in thick coal seam with large buried depth, thin bedrock and potential water risk, and other efficient exploitation technologies for complex thick coal seam, and invented fault layer mining method of thick coal seam and three stage mining technology, successfully solving the technological problems in efficient and safe mining of China’s thick coal seam.
 
(2) The researchers developed the new type of technology and equipment of efficient filling mining, put forward the “structural key layer” theory in the strata control of filling mining and the overlying strata isolated section-grouting mining technology, and invented the new type of solid consolidated filling material with the concentration as high as 75-80%.
 
(3) Using the roadway retaining and borehole drilling method, the researchers developed the simultaneous exploitation of coal and gas technology and the new type of surrounding rock potential risk control technology, created the simultaneous exploitation of coal and gas technology in the roadway retaining and borehole drilling method, developed the new type of roadway potential risk checking and controlling technology, invented the technology of bolt and cable truss structure under high stress controlling large cross truss structure, and developed the potential risk prevention and control technology for high-intensity drilling working face.
 
(4) The researchers applied the 3D printing technology and stress-freezing technology into the transparency and visualization research of the discontinuous structure of deep rock mass and the mining stress field, developed the stress visualization material of simulation natural rock medium, put forward the transparency and visualization quantitative analysis method of mining stress field, fracture field, seepage field of surrounding rock, and established the transparent deductive theory and technology of the geological structure and the exploitation for solid resources. All the achievements above provided new theory and technology for achieving the transparency in the exploitation for deep coal, the disaster gestation and the process of forming disaster, the anticipation, pre-warning and pre-resolving of mining disaster, and the goal of green, safe, intelligent and unmanned exploitation for deep resources.
 
(5) The researchers established the aging slope theory of open pit mine and the theory of the reliability of jointed rock slope, and developed the aging slope theory and application of large-scaled open pit mine, and the theory and application of the reliability of the steep slope of deep concave jointed rock.
 
(6) The researchers revealed the mechanism and regularity of the impact on underground water and ground ecological environment due to the coal exploitation in west areas, established the complete-period synchronized monitoring system for the seismic, electrical and seepage parameters of mining strata, and put forward the method of open pit mining with the integration of mining and reclamation, the technology of reclamation and the key technology. Besides, the researchers also carried out the new idea of underground reservoir for the reserve of mine water, created the approaches for measuring the capacity of underground reservoir, preventing the seepage of dam, and purifying the mine water, and initiatively carried out the technology for the reserve of mine water. They also developed the recovery technology for the area with weak ecological environment, laying the theoretic foundation for revealing the regularity of life damage and choosing the recovery technology.
